So, you think that they see me as the villain in this particular story?

#I rewatched this ep today and listen…this scene is so good…#the way the music grows desperate and shaky and a bit dark at the end to mirror flint’s sudden panic#he went from entirely lighthearted and open to BARRICADES UP while his inner self raged like a storm#because no one (other than miranda) has ever noticed – let alone acknowledged – that he’s in pain like this#and suddenly this curly-haired little shit walks into his life and sees through every layer he’s constructed to create captain flint#and recognizes that flint lives a life of suffering#‘it must be awful being you’ sounds so rude omgdslfjasdlfkjds like…/SILVER/…u insensitive piece of poo…#(this is why it took u like a decade to make a single friend my kid…honestly)#but silver doesn’t actually mean to be rude when he says things like this; he really is just being honest#flint is a puzzle to him and he’s merely putting the pieces together out loud#and the thing is that even though it takes flint off guard and /terrifies/ him…he NEEDED someone to recognize this. recognize his pain.#and LOOK HOW FAR WE’VE COME SINCE THIS MOMENT#knowing that silver could see through to his core became a welcome thing#and by the season three finale flint was willingly handing over the things he’d kept locked up tight…without fear and without hesitation#literally the BIGGEST secret he had…the one with the potential to ruin him…the one that already had#and all silver has to do is ask ‘will you tell me?’ and flint just DOES#I’M DYING :o) (via candlewinds)

#this scene is so crucial for our understanding of 3×10#silver has always come across as a rude little shit when he’s being honest#and i think flint has come to understand it and love it

Eleanor, this place is just sand.It cannot love you back. You know this. You must know this.Your father left you.Your mother was taken from you.Everyone you have ever loved you have lost and it terrifies you.But not me-I will never, ever leave you.I love you.-Black Sails,102 (x)

There’s always doubt, Billy.

No sane man would deny that.

No good captain would acknowledge it.

Take our present route, for instance.

We tacked north by northeast, along Andromache’s best point of sail.

If you’re Bryson, that’s the smart course.

Well, he knows that I know that.

So wouldn’t he have at least considered heading northwest to follow the coast, lose us in the dark?

Or due east on the chance that we might sail right past him?

There must be at least one chance in three that that horizon will remain bare and we’ll never see the Andromache again.

That’s the truth.

But what good would that knowledge do for any man on this crew trying to focus on doing his job?
