When I first met Mr. Gates and he asked me my name

I feared the man I was about to create. I feared that someone born of such dark things would consume me were I not careful. And I was determined only to wear him for a while and then dispose of him when his purpose was complete. And I thought of that story. Am I ready to let him go?

#alfred hamilton#eleanor guthrie#black sails#blacksailsedit#look. I love Eleanor. u all know I love Eleanor#but right here she’s definitely acting as the mouthpiece of ‘civilisation’#that just wants people like james and madi to be dealt with quietly and out of sight#because if no one can see their resistance then no one can imagine resisting themselves#it reminds me of what Peter says to James in 2×10 – that if he’ll just sign a confession then Peter will have the sentence carried out#‘quietly’ and ‘privately’ – which will allow everyone to believe that James ‘repented’ his ‘crimes’#also tbh – what pastor lambrick says to charles vane in 3×09 – that while there is ‘quiet’ he should make his confession#in contrast to the ‘loud’ and public nature of his hanging – where charles is able to give a dramatic and emotional speech#and begin the resistance in nassau#and it’s anything but ‘quiet’#also tbh silver making sure that no one knows what happens to james in the finale – he makes sure that he’s sent to savannah ‘quietly’#I remember a post I saw a while ago about how calling for civility in the face of injustice is a way of silencing oppressed people#and. yeah. this is definitely in that vein#just. god this show….. it’s so good….. its so fucking good#(eleanor…… I still love u bb. alfred u can choke)

Send me a ship and a number and I’ll tell you: How do they hug? Kiss? Tease? Flirt? Comfort?

Thomas is an unstoppable flirt who, once he knows he can, never stops touching James. Light passing fluttering touches, brushing his fingers over James’ as he passes him things, a hand on his shoulder while they work, leaning over the same papers, trailing touches to James’ thighs when they’re alone (and sometimes when they’re not) that always lead further, in his hair while he sleeps, tickling freckles in the early mornings etc. etc.

James has always been susceptible to Thomas’ touch, even before he knew for certain it was allowed, and succumbs every time. He’s far less casual about his affections though and when he flirts it’s like a hunter stalking his prey, carefully placed words disguised as innocence, a brief heated look that’s gone so fast Thomas wonders if he’s imagining it but is left desperate for more non-the-less.

It takes James a long time get comfortable enough with expressing his want, though, and he’s always cautious about pushing too hard, needing too much, so it’s usually Thomas that initiates things between them. It’s almost unusual, then, that James is the one who loves hugs, being cradled tight by Thomas’ arms a comforting reassurance that what they are is right and good.

Thomas kisses a thousand different ways, always knowing what is needed (even if the achingly slow, light presses of lips in all the places but one are sometimes the opposite of what James wants) and James takes every one and still asks for more, dominating while being dominated.

After everything, when they’re finally together again, every touch, hug, kiss and flirtation is a comfort; a gentle easing of grief and pain for something far kinder.

Send me more numbers?

Governor Robert Thompson, the one accepting bribes from pirate captains as fast as they can pay them in exchange for catering to their every need. Meanwhile, he’s sending word back to his pamphleteer friends in London about the scourge of the pirate menace, which garners him sympathy and support, which solidifies his position, and which only fuels the underlying problem.
