John Silver, Thomas is learning, is a novice when it comes to love. 

He’s been living with Thomas and James for three months, sharing their bed for two, and yet every time he sees the pair of them exchange a sweet kiss or even embrace he looks away, almost uncomfortable. 

It’s on an ordinary, lazy Sunday morning that Thomas understands the other man’s behavior: James presses an absentminded kiss to Silver’s cheek in thanks for handing him a book, and Silver in response stops dead in his tracks, frozen where he’s bent over next to the settee. 

“Oh,” Silver says when he straightens up, pressing a hand to his cheek and looking at James with something not unlike awe. “You – oh.”

And as Thomas watches Silver’s cheeks turn a fetching shade of red, everything makes sense.

When my father still lived here, this place was a fucking mess. Men just fucked in tents, threw their shit in the streets.I wonder if he didn’t notice everyone living like animals or if he just didn’t care. Why all this talk of your father? A man-o’-war was spotted yesterday. Royal Navy. What if today’s the day? What if Scott is downstairs right now waiting to give me the news? The British are back. Decamp from Nassau. And then what? Then they blockade the island, choke off trade. A few crews will resist, but how long can they survive without my father’s support? One by one their numbers will dwindle.The fort will be abandoned.Soldiers will storm the beach.By the time the smoke clears,my father will have arrived.First time he’s set foot here in five years waving the royal commission that his bribes purchased and lording over the place.Round of applause, the new governor. Somewhere in London, some foul fuck will get news of all of this, light his pipe and say, “Finally, all is right again in Nassau.” You say this as if it is certain. Perhaps you can buy this place. Nassau will need an inn. Max could be your partner. There is no finer host in the world.

How will Mr. Noonan feel when he hears of this plan? I think maybe soon what Mr. Noonan feels will be of no concern to me.

I was so determined to upload some Flint x Gates today even though I have exactly zero time for art because I’m moving soon and there’s so much to do I’m slightly losing my shit! Yesterday and today were kinda horrible so I scribbled these happy drunks to cheer myself up (it worked!) Tried to ignore the fact that Flint uhhh murdered Hal for a moment and imagined some of the good times they undoubtedly shared. I also drew this with @flintrage in mind because he is definitely captaining the flintgates ship 😀 I’m posting today because I think I prefer them as platonic, but I also like to think they knew each other very well. They obviously shared a lot of history that I wish we knew more about. I like to think Gates got to see a lot more of the James E McGraw side of Flint than anybody else on the Walrus and that he knew about Thomas and it’s so jhgjadgjadg vile to me that Flint killed him despite all of this. BUT I wasn’t going to dwell on that. They got drunk together some time and laughed until they cried and maybe Flinty smooched him a bit idk who can say
