Honestly, this was probably Buffy’s healthiest relationship.

There’s a LOT to unpack about this ep, this scene, this relationship, but I wanna talk about how this world was filmed.

I remember distinctly reading that they used a different kind of camera for this episode, and that as a result Sarah/Michelle/Emma/Alyson all looked gaunt and drawn, especially in the wide shots, whereas Amber, who was always a little more average in weight looked healthy.

Because of this, the wide shot of them sitting there is incredibly haunting. Because Sarah, whose always been shown as physical and strong on the show, looks really weak and I think they said it was purposeful? But it’s effective.
