Ok but how about a Flinthamilton modern au inspired by Tomb Raider (specifically the 2014 video game but whatever) where Thomas Hamilton is a wealthy lord and museum owner who likes going around the world to collect antiques and artifacts.
He pays for a ship and crew to take him to a remote island where they’ve just unearthed and gathered new artifacts he wants to purchase for his museum. Miranda is an old friend and his personal physician who goes with him. Flint of course is captain of the ship, The Walrus, and also the ex-lover and now old friend of Miranda’s. Vane, Silver, and Billy are his primary crew.
Miranda and James found out he was gay while they were dating, but he’s still somewhat closeted about it (but not for long!). Thomas and James meet and James is instantly attracted to him so naturally he spends the voyage trying to avoid direct eye contact, touching him, etc. To the point where Thomas starts to notice.
Cut to a severe storm hitting them and knocking out their communications and eventually shipwrecking them on the island. In addition to trying to figure out how to repair The Walrus they also discover that the island has come under attack and is a disputed territory between warring countries (or something similar).
So it’s up to Flint, also a skilled survivalist, to help Thomas and Miranda survive, etc.
Silver is the galley chef and helps them find food on the island to eat. Vane and Billy track and kill things. (Maybe some silverbones or billy/vane on the side? Sure why not).
Miranda patches everyone up constantly, especially James (like she did on the show).
Anyways at some point during their adventure Thomas and James find themselves separated from the others. Thomas confronts him about his cold behavior and finally pulls him in for a kiss. At first James resists but then of course he gives in completely. I’m thinking cave sex at some point.
Anyways just a story idea that will probably never see the light of day so I figured I’d share it on here. :p

Honestly what kills me most about the flashbacks in season 2 is seeing how easy James found it bringing Thomas up in conversation when he wasn’t even in the room and yet since losing him he can’t do that, he has to literally steel himself and fight back the pain, fight back tears, fight back all the emotion he’s feeling just to say his name – let alone actually talk about him in any sort of depth – to strangers.
And just Toby Stephens I’m gonna fight you for ruining my life.
