I’ve had months at a time without a project, which is a bit daunting, but that’s what I love about it. You just don’t know where you’re going to be next week. You might still be at home on your couch in pajamas or you can be going to London and filming a series like ‘Killing Eve.’
A pre-release screening of the Jihane Chouaib-directed “Go Home,” starring Golshifteh Farahani, will be held on Dec. 5 in Paris (x)

Break the rules. I’ve always hated the idea that you should be wearing this or that, because it makes me feel like I’m getting everything wrong. I hated it at school, and I don’t want it as an adult. If you want to wear a fucking flowerpot on your head and that makes you happy, then wear a fucking flowerpot on your head.
“I think it’s better to establish yourself early, especially as a woman, as someone who has an opinion, because I think they’re less likely to fuck with you if you’re the kind of person who blurts things out. In England I was kind of a live wire, so people knew not to fuck with me. I had no idea that I would ever be this calm and happy. Definitely didn’t think I would find that in Hollywood of all places, the least calm place ever.”

To me, moving into my mid-30s has been a calming experience. I have felt a respite, sort of catching my breath, going: ‘Oh, OK, so all those things that that angry, defiant, hopeful, self-berating 18 year old wanted to achieve – we got to a good place.’
It’s so important for children to see diverse characters and to see different cultures represented, and not just see these clichés and stereotypes that I feel like my generation grew up with. I think it’s so awesome that kids have Coco and Black Panther, too! It’s a really exciting time. I don’t think that means we’re done. We still have to keep fighting and keep that train moving. […] People need escape. They’re that much more important when things aren’t going so well in the world. I think that now is the time people appreciate being transported into these other worlds. People are kind of yearning to expand their minds, or something. This can’t all be it, you know?
